What is Executive Coaching?

Helping leaders get unstuck from their dilemmas and assisting them to transfer their learning into results.

A facilitative, one-to-one, mutually designed relationship in which it is the job of the coach to facilitate what is most important to the client and to help the client gain clarity around their most important issues and challenges.

  • Develops fast-trackers and high performing leaders.  Often executives need an objective, neutral sounding board to discuss challenges, opportunities and their perspective.

  • Coaching allows the executives to step away from their day-to-day routine and effectively strategize on how they can reach beyond where they are currently.

  • Coaching is an intense process and rigorous, challenging the client to take an honest self-assessment with high-committed action planning and execution.  It is about empowering an executive to create a future that they truly desire based on unearthing what they passionately care about.

  • Coaching is the best way to accelerate development as a leader, but it also takes a significant investment of time plus money.

Success Stories

“I started working with Kathryn 3 years ago as an open-minded skeptic.  I felt that at this point in my personal life and career that there was very little she could offer that I had not seen or heard.  Nothing could have been further from the truth!  Indeed, the first year was spent finding the person that existed when that person was not in the business mode.  To separate business and personal was not unlike I imagine separating Siamese twins.  Once I stopped fighting and accepted the separation, I was then able to start the real work.  This real work which has consisted of defining myself on multiple levels, as well as being aware of the impact that I as a person have on all facts of my life (business included) continues to evolve.  This evolution has allowed my staff to step up and truly handle the responsibilities (as well as earn the rewards) that I hired them to do.  Although coaching continues to be a work in process for me, I can now see the path that this evolution is taking.  It is surprising what I didn’t know until Kathryn came along to help peel away the layers.  I feel as if I have been injected with a vitamin B-12 shot, and very much look forward to the new, multi-faceted life I am building.”

  • Cris, CEO of a multi-million dollar printing company

“You have been so very helpful to me, Kathryn.  I recently said to someone that “you saved me”—what I was referring to was when I was ready to walk out the door after a board meeting.  You helped me get the focus off of my concerns and figure out how I was going to respond.  And, that is just one of many things you have done.  Saying thank you seems so simple and hollow.  I want you to know that I really don’t know what I would have done over the past year had you not been around to coach, advise and support me!”

  • Gaye, Recently promoted Managing Director for a mid-sized financial solution company

“Your Executive Coaching assistance has helped me through numerous transitions:

- from a life alone, to one enriched by family and friends,

- the growth of personal relationships from me always giving to those of mutual support

- the personal awareness to lead from my values – not from the “should be’s”

- transition from a company less than $5 Million in size to one of nearly $10 Million, with offices in two major cities

- the sale of my company to a French publicly-traded billion dollar consulting firm, and the integration—resulting in the loss of ZERO persons

- moving from a business manager to a CEO to a Chairman role and overall, much close to my own mission, and purpose in life!”

The Executive & Leadership Development Process

What to Expect

The leader is guided through a process of assessments, strategy, decision-making and best practices.  Each plan is custom-made for the leader but will typically include:

❋ Step 1

A half-day, face-to-face meeting between the leader and coach to create a challenging plan, set expectations and assess what the leader will need to do to achieve these results; a six-month commitment is required.

❋ Step 2

A series of assessments including a 360 leadership feedback interviews with key stakeholders and an Individual Talent Analysis (a combination of personality assessment + optimizing talents and capabilities).  This analysis uncovers the client’s distinctive talents so he/she can make better use of their talents day-to-day to achieve personal and professional goals.

❋ Step 3

A shadow coaching of the leader at meetings, presentations and engagements to understand the forces that influence the leader – ie.  change, ambiguity, uncertainty, doubt and marketplace factors.

❋ Step 5

A clear knowledge of how well they operate as a leader and lead their organization
